Maksym Nosarev

  • Founder & CEO of Tretten Lawyers, IT Attorney

20 years of legal practice, 8+ of those as legal adviser for IT entrepreneurs in Ukraine. Columnist for AIN, DOU, Forbes Ukraine and Mind. Trainer at IT Dnipro Community BizSchool.

In addition to his extensive experience in the legal field, Maksym has five years of experience managing people and communications for peacekeeping missions in Kosovo and Liberia.

“This was an invaluable experience that taught me to understand people’s needs and honestly take responsibility for complex tasks, break them down into components, and do the impossible. This principle lies at the heart of my work with clients and staff. I ensure peace of mind — this is what owners and managers of IT companies turn to me for. Although everything starts with the request to ‘put the documents in order.’”

We have been cooperating with Maksym for more than four years. Over this time, Maksym and his team have helped me with very difficult migration matters and real estate issues and have just given me human advice. Maksym always meticulously and scrupulously delves into the issues entrusted to him and solves problems not just well but also very quickly if circumstances require it. I definitely recommend him!

I have known and worked with Maksym for more than six years. He is a professional lawyer who is attentive to details and who is ready to find an approach and a way out of any situation. He helps me mainly in the field of migration with obtaining residence permits as well as advising and assisting in the purchase of real estate. His team performs all tasks in a proper and timely manner. They warn about all potential risks in advance and help find ways to reduce or level them. I recommend Maksym as an excellent specialist — he is a professional and wonderful person!

FAQs — You ask, we answer

How much do your legal services for IT cost?

As a rule, we start working after a 20% to 50% prepayment depending on the scale and duration of the project. This makes our services less expensive for clients at the outset and gives us greater payment reliability.

The cost of a project is calculated according to one of three models:

  1. Hourly rate

We commonly use an hourly rate for one-time or difficult-to-predict projects: for example, when discussing contract terms with an IT company’s foreign clients. The hourly rate for our lawyers starts at USD 80.

  1. Fixed price

This model is used to calculate the cost of standard products such as contracts, support of real estate lease or purchase agreements, and legalization of foreign specialists in Ukraine.

  1. Subscription for legal services

For a monthly fee, you can have a lawyer available upon request who can promptly resolve any legal issues for your team. With a subscription model, the choice between an hourly rate or fixed price will depend on the type and frequency of your requests.

Can you help with contracts written in English?

Of course we can! We know English and use it weekly when working with clients. We help CEOs and sales executives reach agreements during negotiations with foreign clients from the US, Israel, Europe, and Middle Eastern countries, and we review and edit American and European contracts in the interests of our clients. We even advise foreign clients about their contracts with regard to the principles of international law.

Do you know all aspects of the IT industry?

Over 8+ years of work we have become fully immersed in the industry. We understand what legal services are in demand in IT – we know the difference between each type of Time & Materials and Fixed-Price contracts, or between service and product business structure. We know which legal models can help an IT company grow and survive in the current legal environment and can be easily adapted to the changeable regulations of Ukraine’s IT sector and abroad. We teach this to business founders and CEOs at IT Dnipro BizSchool, IT Ukraine as well as at Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Chernivtsi and Cherkasy IT clusters

What does the process of working with Tretten Lawyers look like?

Contact us in any convenient way: via messenger, email, the request form on this website, or a phone call with Maksym Nosarev. Maksym will ask you clarifying questions about your business, provide initial advice, and inform you about the basic conditions of cooperation: project terms and risks, the cost of services, etc. If necessary, we will ask for additional documents to start the project. After this, we will do our job and inform you in a chat or by phone (as agreed) on the progress of your project until we achieve the final result: a prepared contract, obtained work permit, executed sales and purchase agreement, or something else. Moreover, we do not disappear upon completion of the project — we are always ready to respond to your questions.

How can you choose an IT lawyer for your company?

Legal support for an IT company is very different from legal support for a traditional business. Work processes and relationships between contractors in this industry are quite specific, often resembling the Western model. Therefore, a lawyer must understand the specifics of the IT sector and the Western way of doing business and must speak English fluently.

Do you plan to meet with one or several IT lawyers? To choose a legal specialist for your company, we suggest finding answers to these five questions:

  1. What kind of IT business structures in Ukraine does the lawyer know? He or she must know them better than or at least as well as you do.
  2. Does the lawyer understand the difference between Time & Materials and Fixed Price? You can ask directly about this.
  3. Can the lawyer explain to you the features of the Dedicated Team cooperation model? As with business structures, your lawyer should understand this better than or as well as you do.
  4. Can the lawyer speak English fluently? Suggest continuing the conversation in English to determine the English skills of your potential lawyer.
  5. Is it comfortable for me to communicate with this person? If not, we advise you to think carefully about whether your communication is worth it.

If you find the answers to all five questions on this checklist to be satisfactory, feel free to take the next step toward cooperation. Our lawyers are always ready for interviews with potential clients!
