Strategic IT Contract Protection

With 10 years of experience working with IT companies, we know one thing for sure:

A contract isn’t just paperwork—it’s the core of your negotiation position.
It reflects what you actually agreed on with your client. If something is missing or unclear, you risk losing money.

With typical IT contract margins of 10–20%, just one unpaid month can wipe out an entire year of profit — and in practice, overly rigid negotiations cost you the deal, while overly soft terms can leave you with €200,000+ in debt and no real legal leverage. We perform deep IT contract checking to spot those traps before they cost you money.

A proper custom IT contract secures your payments, protects your IP, and ensures smooth cooperation. Many agreements contain hidden risks—like Fixed Price obligations in a T&M deal. That’s where our legal IT contract drafting services come in.

FAQS — You ask, we answer

How much do your legal services for IT cost?

As a rule, we start working after 50% prepayment depending on the scale and duration of the project. This makes our services less expensive for clients at the outset and gives us greater payment reliability.
The cost of a project is calculated according to one of three models:
Hourly rate
We commonly use an hourly rate for one-time or difficult-to-predict projects: for example, when discussing contract terms with an IT company’s foreign clients.
Fixed price
This model is used to calculate the cost of standard products such as contracts, support of real estate lease or purchase agreements, and legalization of foreign specialists in Ukraine.
Subscription for legal services
For a monthly fee, you can have a lawyer available upon request who can promptly resolve any legal issues for your team. With a subscription model, the choice between an hourly rate or fixed price will depend on the type and frequency of your requests.

Can you help with contracts written in English?

Of course we can! We know English and use it weekly when working with clients. We help CEOs and sales executives reach agreements during negotiations with foreign clients from the US, Israel, Europe, and Middle Eastern countries, and we review and edit American and European contracts in the interests of our clients. We even advise foreign clients about their contracts with regard to the principles of international law.

Do you know all aspects of the IT industry?

Almost 10 years of work we have become fully immersed in the industry. We understand what legal services are in demand in IT – we know the difference between each type of Time & Materials and Fixed-Price contracts, or between service and product business structure. We know which legal models can help an IT company grow and survive in the current legal environment and can be easily adapted to the changeable regulations  abroad.

What does the process of working with Tretten Lawyers look like?

Contact us in any convenient way: via messenger, email, the request form on this website, or a phone call with Maksym Nosarev. Maksym will ask you clarifying questions about your business, provide initial advice, and inform you about the basic conditions of cooperation: project terms and risks, the cost of services, etc. If necessary, we will ask for additional documents to start the project. After this, we will do our job and inform you in a chat or by phone (as agreed) on the progress of your project until we achieve the final result: a prepared contract, obtained work permit, executed sales and purchase agreement, or something else. Moreover, we do not disappear upon completion of the project — we are always ready to respond to your questions.

How can you hire an IT contract lawyer for your company?

Legal support for an IT company is very different from legal support for a traditional business. Work processes and relationships between contractors in this industry are quite specific, often resembling the Western model. Therefore, a lawyer must understand the specifics of the IT sector and the Western way of doing business and must speak English fluently.
To choose a legal specialist for your company, we suggest finding answers to these questions:

  1. Does the lawyer understand the difference between Time & Materials and Fixed Price? You can ask directly about this.
  2. Can the lawyer explain to you the features of the Dedicated Team cooperation model? As with business structures, your lawyer should understand this better than or as well as you do.
  3. Can the lawyer speak English fluently? Suggest continuing the conversation in English to determine the English skills of your potential lawyer.
  4. Is it comfortable for me to communicate with this person? If not, we advise you to think carefully about whether your communication is worth it.

If you find the answers to all five questions on this checklist to be satisfactory, feel free to take the next step toward cooperation. Our lawyers are always ready for interviews with potential clients!

In which countries or regions do you provide legal contract services?

We tailor contracts for clients operating in Romania, Bulgaria, and worldwide. As experienced IT contract lawyers, we make sure your documents are valid and enforceable internationally.
